My 800 Words of Fame
I’ve been interviewed by a writer from SmartBro last August. Apparently, the communications giant took interest in one of my entries for their Story-telling Contest. The said piece won a webcam (which is still in their stockroom I guess — hey Smart, where’s my prize?!), although I wish some form of royalty would be mailed to my PayPal
)

So You Think You Are Underpaid?
Just type in freelance jobs, freelance writing, homebased etc and you’ll find tons leading to zills of sites and blogs. Blame it on rocketing gas price, company politics or lack of interest for corporate outfit (well, in my case), more people are scribbling resignation letters and switching to homebased work.
My reason for going freelance is no different from most people I meet on the web. I have some reservations however for writers who think they are writers because they can come up with 300, 500 or 1,000-word articles stuffed with keyword1, keyword2 and so on. SEO writing should not make anyone less of a writer. I fear that in time, we would only be writing for one reader, the Google spider. Sigh.
Writers are born. Writers are made. I don’t care if eggs came before chickens.
Long as people who call themselves web writers will also know how to write for humans. Long as we can prove to ourselves first that we can really write before we even think of demanding fees apt for real writers. Long as we seek to improve our writing and work attitude.
Not everyone is worth a hundred dollars per article even if everyone delivers the same number of words.

On Writing
Writing has always been a passion to me. Not just a way to earn a living but a way to live and stay sane.
Web copywriting and SEO has become my toast and spread for the past years, but in no way would I want an article to be run-of-the-mill.
Writing for advertising is a notch more challenging. What I love about this is creating impact to audience in less words. Here I do not have to worry about keywords
or google tentacles to crawl.
Of all these, fiction is probably my favorite. A welcome respite although I seldom do this kind of writing now. Money, honey
It’s different back in college when you get your allowance as if it just drops from heaven.
